Additional 983 coronavirus cases logged in Da Nang on Jan.20

Da Nang’s daily COVID-19 caseload rose to 983 on Thursday, January 20, of which 630 were acquired in the community, 49 in centralised quarantine facilities, 285 during at-home quarantine and the 19 remaining ones in locked-down residential sites.

Of the aforementioned community-acquired cases, 369 were detected through tests at public and private medical facilities citywide during their intentional visits there for regular medical checkups.

Meanwhile, 215 patients were found to be contract the coronavirus via rapid tests conducted by the staff of ward/ commune-levelled medical stations.

Also 25 infections were logged at many local production and business establishments via periodic tests.

As for the remaining community-based infections, 12 returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide and seven traders operating at the Moi, Non Nuoc, Nam O, My An and Quan Ho markets and two members of COVID-19 prevention and control task groups were confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus.

Of the day’s count, 829 cases were at a high risk of further community transmission recorded at all local districts, especially 169 in Son Tra, 166 in Lien Chieu, 145 in Thanh Khe, 125 in Hai Chau, 123 in Cam Le, 53 in Ngu Hanh Son and 48 in Hoa Vang.

Wednesday also witnessed a combined total of 13,266 residents across the city have their nasal swab samples taken by the local medical staff for COVID-19 testing, of whom 8,394 tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 980,371have received the first jab of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 959,476 have got two doses, and 198,952 have received the third shots against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 272 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 991 households with a combined total of 3,844 people under lockdown.

A total of 539 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in eight centralised facilities.
