Da Nang adds 984 cases to COVID-19 tally on Jan.23

Da Nang logged 984 new coronavirus infections on Sunday, January 23, of which 677 caught the pathogen in the community, one found in centralised quarantine facilities, 301 during at-home quarantine and the five remaining ones in locked-down residential sites.

Of the aforementioned community-acquired cases, 395 were detected through tests at public and private medical facilities citywide during their intentional visits there for regular medical checkups.

Meanwhile, 250 patients were found to be contract the coronavirus via rapid tests conducted by the staff of ward/ commune-levelled medical stations.

As for the remaining community-based infections, nine traders operating at the Hoa Khanh and My An markets, 10 employees working at many local production and business establishments and 13 returnees to the city from other cities and provinces nationwide were confirmed to contract the coronavirus.

Of the day’s count, 939 cases were at a high risk of further community transmission recorded at all local districts: 185 in Thanh Khe, 172 in Hai Chau, 169 in Cam Le, 141 in Son Tra, 129 in Lien Chieu, 85 in Hoa Vang and 58 in Ngu Hanh Son.

Sunday also witnessed a combined total of 8,337 residents across the city have their nasal swab samples taken by the local medical staff for COVID-19 testing, of whom 6,350 tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 980,553 have received the first jab of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 961,209 have got two doses, and 208,994 have received the third shots against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 266 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 970 households with a combined total of 3,776 people under lockdown.

A total of 101 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in seven centralised facilities.
