Da Nang highly proactive in containing COVID-19, enhancing of medical examination and treatment capacity
Addressing a Friday meeting to review the work performance of Da Nang healthcare sector in 2021 and deploy tasks set for 2022, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ngo Thi Kim Yen highly praised all medical local staff for their great efforts in COVID-19 containment over the past time.
Vice Chairwoman Yen said that the COVID-19 resurgence in Da Nang has been put under control, with the highly effective coordination among functional bodies, thus contributing to the maximum protection of people's health.
Up to now, Da Nang has achieved the high coverage rate of vaccination against COVID-19 and is one of the first Vietnamese localities to have achieved the goal of covering basic doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
Besides, health-population target programmes have been fully implemented in a synchronous and effective manner, and the population's quality is improving day by day.
The city leader hoped that the local healthcare sector would make good use of its achievements and continue to reap even more success, with more attention paid to the frontline forces joining the COVID-19 fight.
“The healthcare sector must be more proactive in preventing any outbreaks of the coronavirus in the city in the time to come, strengthening the management of non-communicable diseases, preventing the impacts of risk factors affecting the health, and promoting the application of information technology in improving healthcare capacity for the people”, emphasised Vice Chairwoman Yen.
In 2021, despite the complicated developments of COVID-19, the Da Nang healthcare sector gained remarkable achievements, making an important contribution to the city’s stability and development.
Notably, 99.75% of the local residents aged 18 and above have received one dose whilst 98.11% have been jabbed twice.
Meanwhile, 99.12% of the local children aged 12 - 17 have received one dose whist 96.2% have got two shots.
The Millennium Development Goals of Da Nang far exceeded the national ones, such as the sex ratio at birth reaching 104.9 male births/100 female births.
The local population quality is improving day by day and the average life expectancy is now 76.3.
The rate of health insurance coverage for the entire population has reached 98.6%.
Also, the city has reached the rate of 78.84 hospital beds/10,000 people and 18.40 doctors/10,000 people.
In addition to the development of the preventive medicine system, the quality of medical examination and treatment at hospitals is increasingly increasing. Many local hospitals have deployed many new and modern techniques, hereby contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment.
On this occasion, Vice Chairwoman Yen presented certificates of merit from the Prime Minister to four groups and 12 individuals working for the local healthcare sector in recognition of their outstanding achievements in COVID-19 prevention and control.
