Da Nang logs additional 245 cases of COVID-19 on Jan. 5

Da Nang recorded a further 245 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, January 5, of which 110 were acquired in the community, five in centralised quarantine facilities, 109 during at-home quarantine and the 21 remaining ones in locked-down residential sites.

Out of the 110 community-acquired patients documented on Wednesday, there were one employee infected with COVID-19 found via swab sample collections for tests at the Pivina Company, one stall holder at the My An Market, three traders at the Khue My Market and two found at the Da Nang International Airport.

Meanwhile, the remaining community-based patients were locals who were positive for the coronavirus through tests conducted at some public and private medical facilities citywide during their intentional visits there for regular medical checkups or COVID-19 tests due to the displaying of suspicious symptoms.

Of the day's newly count, 190 cases were at a high risk of further community transmission.

Also on Wednesday, a combined total of 18,163 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, of whom 15,060 tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 975,620 have received the first jabs of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 957,927 have got two doses, and 20,293 have received the third shots against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 388 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 581 households with a combined total of 3,307 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 333 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in 12 centralised facilities.

The day's new infections have pushed Da Nang’s total tally to 7,058 since October 16 when the city saw the resurgence of COVID-19 community transmission, 237 of which were returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide.
