Da Nang records high daily jump in COVID-19 with 924 cases on Jan.17

Da Nang’s daily COVID-19 count climbed to a new record high of 924 on Monday, January 17, of which 590 were acquired in the community, two in centralised quarantine facilities, 295 during at-home quarantine and the 37 remaining ones in locked-down residential sites.

Of the aforementioned community-acquired cases, 335 were detected through tests at public and private medical facilities citywide during their intentional visits there for regular medical checkups.

Meanwhile, 239 patients were found to be contract the coronavirus via rapid tests conducted by the staff of ward/ commune-levelled medical stations.

Two cases were discovered at many local production and business establishments via periodic tests.

As for the remaining community-based infections, three members of local COVID-19 prevention and control task groups, 10 traders operating at the Cam Le and Huong Phuoc markets and one medical worker at the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital were also confirmed to contract the coronavirus.

Of the day’s active caseload, 829 cases were at a high risk of further community transmission recorded at all local districts, especially 194 in Son Tra, 160 in Thanh Khe, 138 in Lien Chieu, 108 in Hai Chau, 93 in Cam Le, 76 in Ngu Hanh Son and 60 in Hoa Vang.

Monday also saw a combined total of 14,095 residents across the city have their nasal swab samples taken by the local medical staff for COVID-19 testing, of whom 10,112 tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 977,314 have received the first jabs of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 960,624 have got two doses, and 113,006 have received the third shots against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 148 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 537 households with a combined total of 1,394 people under lockdown.

A total of 145 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in seven centralised facilities.
