Da Nang reports record high of 474 new COVID-19 cases on Jan.8

Da Nang registered a record high of 474 new daily COVID-19 infections on Saturday, January 8, of which 219 were acquired in the community, 55 in centralised quarantine facilities,186 during at-home quarantine and the 14 remaining ones in locked-down residential sites.

The majority of the community-acquired patients documented on Saturday were detected through tests at district and ward-level medical stations, public and private medical facilities citywide during their intentional visits there for regular medical checkups or COVID-19 tests due to the displaying of suspicious symptoms.

In addition, a number of companies across the city also recorded community-based cases during their periodic testing for COVID-19 such as one each found at the Chin Huei Plastic Industry JSC, the Fujikura Automotive Viet Nam and the Kad industrial S.A Viet Nam, seven at Nang Luong Xanh (Green Energy) company, three at the Pi Vina Da Nang Co., Ltd. and one trader at the Non Nuoc Market.

Of the day’s caseload, 368 cases were at a high risk of further community transmission, specially 74 in Thanh Khe District, 73 in Son Tra District, 70 in Lien Chieu District, 53 in Hai Chau District, 42 in Ngu Hanh Son District, 32 in Cam Le District, 24 in Hoa Vang District.

Also on Saturday, a combined total of 14,861local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, of whom 13,190 tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 975, 927 have received the first jabs of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 958, 421 have got two doses, and 46,543 have received the third shots against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 198 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 456 households with a combined total of 1,542 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 335 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in nine centralised facilities.
