Da Nang sees abundant supply of goods for Tet

With just around one month to go to the 2022 Lunar New Year (Tet) festival, which will begin on 1 February, in order serve the growing public shopping needs at this special occasion, dozens of businesses and distributors across Da Nang have geared up stockpiling goods. Functional sectors are also strengthening inspections and control to stabilise the market before, during and after Tet.

According to the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade, up to this point, the plan to reserve essential goods and organize sales for Tet 2022 has been completed.

As for the total reserve of essential goods at 19 production and business units, trade centers, supermarkets, and markets, there are 165.6 tonnes of rice, sticky rice of all kinds, 3,385 tonnes of meat of all kinds, 1,997 tonnes of fruit and vegetables of all kinds, more than 36,248 tonnes of canned food, 996 tonnes of dried food and 515 tonnes of cakes with a total value of VND819 billion.

Besides, traders operating at four big markets, namely such as Con, Han, Dong Da and Hoa Cuong Wholesale have also planned to stockpile essential goods for the Lunar New Year with an estimate of nearly VND250 billion in total. 

Chains of stores on specialized shopping streets in the city have also stockpiled essential consumer goods with an estimated value of about VND500 billion.

According to Mr. Diep Hoang Thong Anh, the Head of the Hoa Cuong wholesale market management board, on the days leading up to Tet, the amount of fruit and vegetables of all kinds in reserve is about 800-900 tones/day. Right from this moment, traders doing business at the market have completed signing orders with partners.

In order to stabilise the supply-demand balance of the pork market, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade has mobilised enterprises producing, supplying and distributing pork products to participate in a programme of stabilizing the selling prices of pork products such as the Da Nang branch of CP Viet Nam Livestock Joint Stock Company, Dac Vinh Co., Ltd. and Hai Thuyen Trading & Service Co., Ltd.

The programme is expected to be held in three days before Tet (from January 29 to January 31, 2022, with 20 selling points concentrated in markets near residential areas in the city. All pork products on display there will be offered at lower- than-the-market prices.

A representative of the branch of the C.P Viet Nam Livestock Joint Stock Company said that, in the days leading up to Tet, the company is able to supply 700-800 pigs/day and nearly 3,000-5,000 tonnes of finished meat.

According to Nguyen Huu Hanh, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade, his agency will strengthen supervision to proactively grasp the supply situation, commodity demand and market prices and to promptly detect any acts of speculation and hoarding, unfair trade practices, all of which may cause market instability.

Along with that, fight against trafficking in prohibited, smuggled, fake, counterfeit and poor-quality goods, those flailing to ensure food safety and hygiene regulations, and other commercial frauds, especially at before, during and after Tet 2022 will be intensified.

According to the Da Nang Centre for Industry and Trade Promotion, the 2022 Da Nang Spring Fair will take place from January 19 to January 24, 2022 at the Da Nang Exhibition and Fair Centre at 9 Cach Mang Thang Tam, Cam Le District. 

This year’s event will introduce OCOP (One Commune –One Product), typical commercial products and specialties to serve the soaring shopping needs during Tet.

The Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade is now inviting businesses to join the fair. In addition to preparing the supply of goods, this agency has planned to organise the delivery of goods to mountainous areas on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2022 and Tet fairs dedicated to serving workers in industrial parks across the city.
