Da Nang woman prosecuted for using fake certificate of land use rights for frauds
Doan Thi Kim Thanh, 35, residing in An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang has been arrested and prosecuted for ‘forging seals and documents of agencies and organisations’ and ‘fraudulently appropriating property through swindling’
According to an indictment, from 2008 to 2009, Thanh operates daytime child care services in Nai Hien Dong Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang. In less than a year, she suffered from losses and managed ways to restore her business.
At the beginning of 2020, through social networks, Thanh hired a person of unknown identity to make a fake certificate of land use rights, commonly known as the ‘red book’ in Vietnamese, under her name in a bid to make facilitate money borrowing acts. She later received a loan of more than VND 400 million at an interest rate of 6%/month from a local woman.
After that, Thanh continued to make an order of seven other fake land use right certificates with the intention of cheating other people out of money.
Before her arrest, the fraudster had fraudulently appropriated an amount of VND 1.39 billion from many victims.
The case is currently under further investigation.
