Da Nang recorded a further 299 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, January 6, of which 165 were acquired in the community, 11 in centralised quarantine facilities, 100 during at-home quarantine and the 23 remaining ones in locked-down residential sites.

Of special note, these figures showed a fact that the city witnessed a rise in both the newly daily caseload and community-based infections in Thursday as compared to the previous days.

Out of the 165 community-acquired patients documented on Thursday, there were two employees infected with COVID-19 each found via swab sample collections for tests at the Matrix and Daiwa companies and one staffer each at the SSLV and T.T.T.I companies, one trader at the Binh Ky Market and three stall holders at theTam Thuan market.

Also, there was one returnee from the capital city of Ha Noi discovered to be infected with the virus via a rapid test conducted at the Da Nang railway station.

Meanwhile, the remaining community-based patients were locals who were positive for the coronavirus through tests conducted at some public and private medical facilities citywide during their intentional visits there for regular medical checkups or COVID-19 tests due to the displaying of suspicious symptoms.

Of the day's newly count, 252 cases were at a high risk of further community transmission.

Also on Thursday, a combined total of 16.842 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, of whom 14,679 tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 975,818 have received the first jabs of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 958,113 have got two doses, and 33,567 have received the third shots against the highly contagious disease.
