Da Nang's daily COVID-19 cases total 592 on Jan.12

Da Nang’s daily COVID-19 count rose to 592 on Wednesday, January 12, of which 387 were acquired in the community, three in centralised quarantine facilities, 177 during at-home quarantine and the 25 remaining ones in locked-down residential sites.

Out of the total community-acquired patients logged on Wednesday, 217 were detected through tests at public and private medical facilities citywide during their intentional visits there for regular medical checkups or COVID-19 tests due to the showcasing of suspicious symptoms.

Meanwhile, 74 infections were discovered by rapid testing conducted at ward and commune-level health stations.

Other community-based infections were discovered at many local businesses via periodic tests, namely nine cases at the Da Nang branch of HALONG CANFOCO, five at a gas company, two each at the Viet Hoa and at Huu Nghi companies, and one each at the companies of Daiwa, Matrix and Pivina, the Crown Beverage Packaging Co., Ltd, and the Viet Nam Kanzaki Co., Ltd.

Also, 63 active cases of COVID-19 operating at the Con Market were discovered.

One medical worker each at the Da Nang General Hospital, the Da Nang-based Hospital 199 under the management of the Ministry of Public Security and the Lien Chieu Medical Centre, and one police officer in Son Tra District were confirmed to contract the coronavirus via periodical testing for COVID-19.

Also, six residents in Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District were found to be infected with the virus via mass testing applied to household representatives, known as the ‘One Door-One Test’ approach.

Of the day’s caseload, 525 cases were at a high risk of further community transmission recorded at all local districts, especially 130 in Son Tra, 99 in Thanh Khe, 92 in Lien Chieu, 65 in Hai Chau, 57 in Cam Le and 39 in Hoa Vang.

Also on Wednesday, a combined total of 20,892 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, of whom 19,657 tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 976,397 have received the first jabs of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 959,539 have got two doses, and 104,486 have received the third shots against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 202 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 503 households with a combined total of 1,684 people under lockdown.

A total of 291 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in eight centralised facilities.
