Da Nang's imported Omicron cases discharged from hospital
Doctor Ton That Thanh, the Director of the Da Nang Center for Disease Control (CDC), announced on Tuesday that three imported Omicron cases in the city had been discharged to their own homes in other parts of the country after making a full recovery from the illness.
On December 30, 2021, Da Nang confirmed 4 imported cases of COVID-19 and they were among 186 Vietnamese citizens flying home from Malaysia on two repatriation flights that landed in Da Nang on December 23 and 24. They were found positive for SARS-CoV-2 and admitted to the field hospital at the second test. Their samples have been sent to the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute for genomic sequencing to identify Omicron variant. As a result, the Omicron variant has been confirmed in three out of the four imported COVID-19 cases.
Doctor Thanh said that these patients have been treated and isolated at the hospital in line with the recommendations of the Ministry of Health in order to prevent cross-infection at this healthcare facility. He remarked that said a decision to discharge them was taken after their RT-PCR test report came negative.
