During the 2016-2021 period, the Da Nang Women’s Union (WU) and its chapters at all levels across the city were actively involved in supporting local women to develop the economy, thereby contributing to improving their living standards.

Specifically, the Da Nang WU has deployed a number of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Women's Union-launched movements and action programmes in the city which attracted a large number of women to actively join. Included were ‘Women help each other develop the household economy’, ‘Be capable of national affairs and duteous at housework’, and ‘Supporting women to start a business’.

Notable amongst them was the ‘Supporting women to start a business’ project. After five years of implementing the project, the municipal WU has supported over 800 startup ideas from its members, thereby creating stable jobs for thousands of women.

Also, WU chapters at all levels citywide got actively involved in assisting nearly 7,000 members to access preferential entrusted loans, worth VND 124.3 billion in total, from the ‘Fund for Supporting Women's Development’, and 45,612 households to borrow more than VND 1,566 billion from the Viet Nam Bank for Social Policies.

Thanks to their positive and effective activities, the WU and its chapters at all levels helped 4,964 poor families and 2,117 others living near the city's poverty threshold escape from poverty over the past 5 years.

Over the 2021-2026 period, the municipal WU targets to help 4,000 families living near or below the city's poverty threshold to get out of the poverty, and assist at least 5,000 women to be involved in production, business and service activities. Moreover, 2 new enterprises, 1 cooperative and 35 women-managed service groups will be established in the city.
