More than 1,000 young people join on Red Sunday
A combined total of 1,100 units of blood were collected at the 2022 ‘Red Sunday’ blood donation campaign which took place in Da Nang on Sunday.
Co-organised by the municipal Youth Union, the campaign attracted over 1,000 local government employees, Youth Union members, members of the city-based voluntary blood donation clubs, and others.
This is the 14th year in a row that the municipal Youth Union has organized such a meaningful programme with the aim of collecting more blood for use in emergencies and treatment activities during the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival break.
An annual average of between 22,000 and 25,000 Youth Union members and young people citywide donated about 20,000 units of blood, accounting for 90% of the blood volume for emergency medical treatment for patients in the city.
Particularly in 2021, in the context of the complicated developments of COVID-19, the city's youth also donated nearly 15,000 units of blood for emergency and treatment amid the coronavirus rage.
