The donated blood units will be added to the city's blood reserve, serving the emergency and treatment missions at medical establishment citywide.
In active response to the appeals made by the Da Nang Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, the Da Nang Trade Union of Public Servants launched this voluntary blood donation programme. This annual activity showed off a profound humanitarian spirit.
It is known that the Da Nang Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation has set forth a goal of collecting 44,000 blood units from donors by the end of this year.
The complicated and prolonged developments of COVID-19 have caused voluntary blood donation activities to be narrowed in terms of scale, leading to a serious decrease in blood reserves. Regular blood donors are staying away due to their fears over COVID-19 infections, thus cutting supply to those who are in dire need of transfusions. Public hospitals across the city are, therefore, facing a dire shortage of blood for emergency and treatment amid the coronavirus rage. Therefore, the city is making urgent call for voluntary blood donations to handle this matter.
