Many construction items, as part of the Ngo Quyen - Ngu Hanh Son route upgrade project in Da Nang, have been basically completed before Tet holiday 2022.

The upgrade of a section of Ngo Quyen - Ngu Hanh Son route between its intersections with Nguyen Phan Vinh and Bui Quoc Hung streets with a combined total length of 4.94km cost VND 78.97 billion in total.

In July 2019, approval from Da Nang government was given to upgrade the Ngo Quyen - Ngu Hanh Son route at a total cost of VND189.4 billion from the city budget.

The purpose of the project was to ensure the smooth traffic flows and reduce traffic accidents related to tractors and trucks entering and leaving the city's Tien Sa Port.

In late 2020, the upgrade project started on a section of Ngo Quyen - Ngu Hanh Son route between its intersections with Nguyen Phan Vinh and Bui Quoc Hung streets at a total cost of VND 78.97 billion.

Developed by the Management Board of Traffic Work Investment and Construction Projects, the construction work was completed and opened to traffic before Tet Festival 2022.

After nearly 2 weeks of opening to traffic, the renovated intersections have been initially proving effective.

As observed by our reporters in late afternoon rush hours on February 10 and 11, despite high density of vehicles on road, most  of road users were seen understanding new traffic rules and going in right lanes, especially motorbike drivers actively going on frontage roads exclusively for motorcycles, bicycles, rudimentary vehicles, and small-sized cars.

According to Chief Inspector of the Department of Transport Tran Lanh, functional forces have been assigned to be on duty to guide road users to follow newly-prescribed rules.

Previously, the upgrade of a section of Ngu Hanh Son Street between its intersections with Le Van Huu and Ho Xuan Huong streets had been also completed, thereby helping to limiting vehicle conflicts at the intersection of Ngu Hanh Son and a road leading to the Tien Son Bridge.

Under the upgrade work, the existing frontage roads were widen to 7.5m from 6m by replacing existing median strips with 0.5m-wide assembled reinforced concrete ones, and renewing road surface with a width of 2m.

In addition, the focus was on placing the existing manholes underground, installing lighting system, and replacing overhead power cables by underground ones.
