Da Nang doctors save life of COVID-19 patient with myocardial infarction
The Da Nang Family General Hospital’s doctors have saved a COVID-19 patient who suffered from myocardial infarction with the use of coronary artery imaging and intervention.

Previously, on February 18, the 66-year-old patient were being under treatment for COVID-19 at a public medical establishment in Tam Ky, Quang Nam Province when he suddenly suffered severe angina pectoris, pain stretching from the precordial region to the left neck, showing signs of myocardial infarction.
Immediately, the patient was managed medically with drugs and transferred to the Da Nang Family General Hospital on February 19.
Through the implementation of paraclinical measures and consultation, the doctors quickly performed emergency operation on the patient with the application of coronary angiography and interventional procedures.
After hours of intervention, resuscitation and close monitoring, the patient gradually recovered.
Doctor Bui Ngoc Anh, Head of Emergency - Stroke Department, Family General Hospital said, this was a special case because the patient both contracted COVID-19 and suffered a myocardial infarction with the underlying conditions of myocarditis and hypertension. The mortality may be higher if not recognized early and managed promptly.
