Da Nang logs 854 new COVID-19 cases on Feb.8

Da Nang confirmed an additional 854 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, February 8, of which 710 were found in the community, one in a centralised quarantine establishment, and the 143 remaining ones logged during home-based quarantine.

Of the aforementioned community-acquired cases, 405 were detected through tests at public and private medical facilities citywide during their intentional visits there for regular medical checkups and tests.

There were 286 patients were found to be contract the coronavirus via rapid tests conducted by the staff of ward/commune-levelled medical stations.

The remaining community-based patients were four returnees to Da Nang from other coronavirus-stricken localities and 15 employees at local production and business establishments, all of whom were found to contract the coronavirus through periodic sampling.

Cases with a high risk of further community transmission were recorded at all local districts: 211 in Thanh Khe, 51 in Hoa Vang, 87 in Cam Le, 80 in Lien Chieu, 151 in Son Tra, 61 in Hai Chau and 65 in Ngu Hanh Son.

Also on the same day, a combined total of 20,381 residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken by the local medical staff for COVID-19 testing, of whom 6,032 tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Up to now, 2,171,682 shots of vaccines against COVID-19 have been administered across the city. Of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 980,979 have received one vaccine shot, whilst 961,902 have got two and 228,801 have accessed three.

Currently, a total of 19 people who are COVID-19 close contacts are kept in four centralised quarantine facilities.
