Da Nang targets 44,000 blood units collected in 2022
The Da Nang Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation has set forth a goal of collecting 44,000 blood units from donors by the end of this year.
In order to achieve this target, an important task is to continue to raise public awareness of donating diversified sources of blood.
In addition, the organisation of blood donation and the care of blood donors must be carried out in a more civilised and professional manner, creating comfort and convenience for blood donors in tandem with ensuring COVID-19 prevention and control.
Addressing at the Thursday meeting, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairwoman, Head of the Da Nang Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, Ngo Thi Kim Yen said that, in 2021, amidst complicated developments of COVID-19, a total of 28,567 blood units were collected across the city, reaching 113% of the year’s plan.
In 2022, in order to achieve the goal of collecting 44,000 blood units, it is necessary to pay attention to encouraging more local residents to join blood donation drives and timely reward those who donate blood many times as well. In addition, units and individuals will be honour for making blood donations for emergency cases.
