From Feb. 16 to 25, Lang Son halts receiving trucks carrying fresh fruit for export
In order to cope with soaring backlogs at its border gate, the northern province of Lang Son announced a temporarily stop on receiving all vehicles carrying fresh fruits for export to China from Wednesday (February 16) to the end of February 25.
Four border gates in this northern Vietnamese province are speeding up customs clearances for goods vehicles. However, China’s tightened COVID-19 preventive measures on people, vehicles and goods packaging has led to sluggish customs clearance procedures.
Meanwhile, a large flow of traffic to the border gate areas in this province in a short period of time has resulted in heavy congestion there.
As reported that the number of fruit vehicles rushing to the border gates is on the rise, at an average of 160-180 vehicles per day.
The aforementioned suspension on receiving all vehicles carrying fresh fruits for export to China aims to ease the burden of customs clearance and quickly clear huge backlogs.
The Lang Son Department of Industry and Trade proposed its counterparts in other localities nationwide continue to connect to the market, promote domestic consumption, focus on fruits and agricultural products that are in the harvest season.
Also, it is a need to consider and guide enterprises to select and change modes of transport and export other than roads such as waterways and railways in order to reduce the load on road border gates; promote trade promotion, and expand export markets to other countries.
