Practical support for mountainous people in Da Nang
In 2021, Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations at all levels lent a helping hand to give financial support to dozens of poor households, union members and workers in Hoa Vang District to build and repair houses, contributing to realizing their dream of having a stable life.

Building homes to help the poor
In early 2021, Hoa Vang district had over 2,300 poor households and many makeshift, degraded houses. Therefore, the district-based Fatherland Front Committee (FFC) and socio-political organizations have spent time surveying and mobilizing funds to support the locals to build new houses, repair houses, and gradually replaced degraded houses with the goal of helping people settle down.
Ms Vo Thi Buoi, residing in Pho Nam Village, Hoa Bac Commune, was allocated resettlement land but could not afford to build a new house so she had to stay temporarily in the boarding venue of a local school.
During the meeting with poor households organized by Hoa Bac Commune-based Fatherland Front Committee, she politely expressed her wish to receive financial support to build a small house on the resettlement land. Finally, the unit agreed to deduct VND 50 million from the district's fund named "For the poor" to support her.
According to the Hoa Vang district-based Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee, in 2021, there are 16 poor households in the whole district receiving financial support for building new houses at the rate of VND 50 million/household; 47 poor households are supported with housing repair costs of 20 million VND/household, extracted from the fund named "For the Poor" at all levels.
Settling down to have a stable life
In mid-February 2022, Mr Phan Van Thai, a needy union member living in Hoa Bac Commune, Hoa Vang District, was overjoyed as his new house, which was built with the financial support of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Viet Nam (BIDV) (VND 50 million) and from the municipal Youth Union (VND 45 million), was completed.
In the same vein, Ms Le Thi Quynh Nga, a member of the Trade Union of Hoa Tien Primary School No. 2, Hoa Tien Commune, Hoa Vang District, has also completed her home repairs with the support of the Da Nang Federation of Labor.
“My husband, unfortunately, passed away early due to a serious illness. The meagre monthly salary of library staff is not enough to cover my family’s living expenses. Fortunately, I was encouraged and supported by the Trade Union with financial aid to repair my house to feel secure to work, "said Ms Nga.
As shared by Mr Huynh Tan, Chairman of Hoa Vang Commune Labor Confederation, in 2021, grass-roots trade unions had surveyed and suggested a list to request the municipal Labor Confederation to hand over financial support to repair three "trade union shelters" for union members; mobilize sponsors to support building a new house for a Co Tu ethnic minority union member, thereby joining hands with the authorities at all levels to take care of the welfare of the people suffering difficult circumstances.
