VND182.8 million in fine imposed on enterprise for discharging wastewater in excess of the standards into the environment
The Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and Environment informed on Tuesday that a total fine of VND182.8 million has been levied on the city-based Food Processing One Member Company Limited for the discharging of wastewater exceeding the current required standards by 3 times at the Poultry Cattle Processing Centre.
Accordingly, the wastewater discharged by the city’s Poultry Cattle Processing Centre, located in Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, contains coliform three times higher than the required standard with a daily wastewater volume of 35m3.
The Food Processing One Member Company Limited was fined VND150 million VND for the aforementioned violation. In addition, VND30 million in fine was levied on the company for discharging wastewater containing total phosphorus in excess of the standard by 1.85 times. Also, the company was forced to pay the cost of measuring and analyzing wastewater samples with the amount of VND 2,877 million.
Given its three administrative violations as mentioned above, the company suffered the VND182.8 million fine, and was forced to upgrade its wastewater treatment work installed at the Poultry Cattle Processing Centre to meet the environmental protection requirements according to the city’s regulations.
The time for paying the above-mentioned administrative fines is 30 days. If the company does not comply with the time limit, it will be coerced to implement according to the provisions of law.
