Since the beginning of 2021, the Association has implemented the 'A model of filial piety' programme during which financially struggling families but their children are filial and devoted to taking care of their parents and grandparents are eligible for financial aids.

Up to now, the Association has honoured five children who showed their filial piety towards their parents and grandparents. Each of them was awarded a certificate of merit and VND 50 million in cash and was praised on the Da Nang Radio and Television Station.

The funding for this outstanding programme - the first of its kind in Viet Nam - are sponsored by the Ha Giang Phuoc Tuong Mechanical JSC.

In addition, the Association-launched ‘Loving Arms’ programme has received high public applause and appreciation, granting VND15 million in aid to each of the 12 poor households with school-aged children in the city.

Although the aid amount is not large, it has helped the disadvantaged, poverty-stricken people and those suffering from serious diseases in a timely manner.

In 2021, despite many difficulties triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Association made efforts to raise money from generous philanthropists to build new houses named ‘Humanity shelters’ for eight poor families and made repairs to the downgraded houses for 17 poor households with children, with total cost of VND836 million.

In the past year, the municipal Associations’ chapters at all levels awarded 1,052 scholarships with a total value of nearly VND1.7 billion to students with difficult circumstances and provided means of livelihood for 32 poor households with children with an aid of VND8 - 12 million/household.

Chairwoman of the Da Nang Charity and Children's Rights Protection Association Le Thi Tam affirmed, “The Association's activities is targeted at helping poor households with children over their difficulties in life and promote the development of the humanitarian movements citywide”.

Also outstandingly, every year, the Association actively takes positive interventions to protects children from being abused in tandem with promptly proposing authorities to strictly handle those who violate children's rights.

Ms. Trinh Thi Huong, an officer of the Da Nang Office of Charity and Children's Rights Protection said, “Recently, the Association has joined the handling off three child rights violation cases with offenders were arrested”.

In particular, through appeals for aids by the Da Nang Association of Charities and Children’s Rights Protection, the UK’s Siloam Christian Ministries, also known as the Siloam organisation, has maintained the granting of scholarships to dozens of local needy students and pupils.

The intention aimed at helping these disadvantaged recipients to overcome their difficulties, and to continue pursuing their dreams of studying.
Since from 2021, the Association has partnered with Siloam to offer English courses to needy children.

Giving children the best is the ultimate goal the Da Nang Charity and Children's Rights Protection Association is following.

In 2021, many support programmes and activities with a total value of more than VND 49 billion VND took place, mainly for disadvantaged children and poor households with children.

In the coming time, the Association will promote publicity of the guidelines and policies of the Party and State on ensuring children's rights, actively mobilize more people to participate in child care, education and protection, and continue to support children.
