Nguyen Duc Khanh, a 29-year-old native of Nam Yen Village, Hoa Bac Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang cherished the dream of building a tourist destination to introduce the beauty of nature as well as the people of his countryside to tourists. In 2021, Khanh finally built his first brainchild, Nha Do coffee shop, next to a fresh green field in his homeland.

Having graduated from high school, Khanh chose to learn the profession of driving and had been in this profession for more than 7 years. However, in 2021, Khanh took advantage of resurgences of the COVID-19 pandemic to help his family to do housework and spent time thinking about his old dream.

Before that, Khanh knew about the model of a coffee shop built in a field in Thailand in 2017 via photos taken by one of his friends. At that time, Khanh was impressed with this model, but he could not start his own business because he had no capital and Hoa Bac tourism had not yet developed.

By the beginning of 2021, Khanh boldly opened the Nha Do coffee shop right on his family's 500m2 field with a savings of more than VND 100 million. “A few years ago, Hoa Bac was a peaceful small commune and people lived on agriculture. Recently, the development of Da Nang tourism has gradually promoted backpacking tourism to the countryside so numerous tourists look to remote rural areas, where there are peaceful scenery and wild beauty, with the desire to enrich their experience," shared Khanh.

Although Khanh had spent nearly 3 months preparing materials, design, decorative plants, and machines for preparing drinks, the construction of the café was completed in just 10 days. Before the opening day of the Nha Do coffee shop, many young people were curious so they took photos and posted them on Facebook.

Thanks to these shares on social networks, the opening day of the café attracted a host of customers coming to enjoy coffee and take photos.

“If the number of customers is stable, the average monthly profit of the shop fluctuates from VND 9 to 10 million per month. At peak times, it can reach over VND 15 million. However, the business focuses mainly from February to October as it is almost unable to operate due to the influence of rain and storms for the rest of the year" said Khanh.

Initially, Nha Do had only served a maximum of approximately 30 customers at a time. Thus far, it can serve up to 70 customers at the same time after many upgrades and renovations. On peak days, the shop welcomes about 100 to 150 customers coming to visit, take photos, and enjoy coffee.

Not only does the café serve coffee, but it also offers a wide range of other drinks such as durian sugar cane juice, fresh fruit juices, and smoothies. All of these drinks are prepared by Khanh himself. Whenever he comes up with a recipe for a certain drink, he always prioritizes meeting local tastes and then improves every day to satisfy many customers. In addition to experiencing relaxation and enjoying tasty drinks in the middle of green rice fields, customers are also introduced to connect with other interesting destinations near Nha Do.

In the coming time, Khanh plans to open overnight camping services and a supermarket selling speciality of Hoa Bac to gradually realize his dream of introducing Nam Yen and Hoa Bac to more tourists.
