Thousands of residents, Youth Union and Trade Union members, veterans, women, border guards in Da Nang recently simultaneously joined forces to respond to the action month for environmental protection and the prevention of dengue fever.

Accordingly, more than 600 officials and workers of the KANE-M Da Nang Co., Ltd, divided into 7 teams to join environmental cleanups and collect garbage along the beach and coastal protective poplar forest areas along a section of Nguyen Tat Thanh coastal between its intersection with Tran Dinh Tri and the Xuan Thieu tourist area.

In a similar vein, the Phu Loc Border Guard Station, in coordination with the Youth Union of Thanh Khe Tay Ward, Thanh Khe District, cleaned up the beach and collect plastic waste in coastal areas along a section of Nguyen Tat Thanh Street which runs through Thanh Khe Tay Ward.

The Women's Union chapter of Ngu Hanh Son District and the Non Nuoc Border Guard Station jointly launched highly practical activities in an active response to the World Environment Day, the Action Month for the Environment, and Viet Nam Sea and Islands Week.

The participants donated separate recycling waste bin bags for garbage sorting to women's associations in Ngu Hanh Son District.

More than 100 Youth Union members went out to clean up the environment, collect trash left on the beach in Tho Quang ward, on the sidewalk of Pham Cu Luong Street’. An Hai Dong Ward.

The environmental clubs of the Veterans’ Association of Hoa Phat and Hoa Xuan wards in Cam Le District, Hoa Thuan Tay Ward in Hai Chau District, Hoa Nhon and Hoa Bac communes in Hoa Vang District, and public servants and residents in villages in Hoa Vang District clears bushes and weeds, collects garbage, takes care of trees and remove stagnant water, a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

The transition from the hot season to the rainy season provides favourable conditions for mosquitoes to develop, resulting in more dengue fever cases. The risk of dengue fever outbreaks is high if preventive measures are not put in place in a timely manner.

Spraying chemicals is only a temporary solution, clearing bushes and draining sewers only prevent mosquitoes from transmitting encephalitis.

The most effective dengue fever prevention measures are emptying containers of stagnant water, flipping down all containers, eating carefully-cooked food and sanitising the environment.
