Da Nang strictly handles modified boats illegally carrying tourists
Waterway police forces from the Traffic Police Department under the Vietnamese Ministry of Public have, through patrolling, discovered and handled many cases of motorboats and inflatable boats that were modified for illegally transporting tourists in the waters off the Son Tra Peninsula.
Once inland waterway tourism activities returned to normalcy upon the effective control of COVID-19, the waterway police officers coordinated with border guards in Son Tra District to patrol, detect, and handle many violations.
As reported, 5 cases under which boats modified to illegally carry tourists were fined VND 7.5 million each.
On Sunday, functional forces also levied penalties on 3 motorboats and inflatable boats carrying tourists for diving and watching corals against the regulations.
The Da Nang functional agencies are advising tourists against using potentially unsafe waterway transportation services in a bid to ensure their ultimate safety during their stay in the city.
In addition, local law enforcement forces are strengthening inspection and strictly handle violations in Inland waterways transport, including cases of bringing unqualified vessels into operation, a shortage of life jackets, life-saving buoyancy devices and crew members, and drivers having no certificates of ability professional qualifications, professional certificates, and exceeding the designed capacity.
