According to recent forecast bulletin released by the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, rainfall is decreasing rapidly in the North Central and mid-Central regions.

On Monday afternoon and evening, showers accompanied by occasional thunderstorm, with heavy to torrential rain, are expected to dampen the Central Highlands and Southern Viet Nam with a rainfall of 20-40mm, and even more than 80mm in some places.

During a thunderstorm, there is a possibility of lightning, hail and strong winds.

In Da Nang, on Monday, it was cloudy with thunderstorms and the temperature hovering at 22 - 27 degrees Celsius. On May 4, no rain is expected to occur in the city and its mercury will range at 23 - 28 degrees Celsius.

Due to the influence of cold air, strong northeasterly wind at level 6, sometimes at level 7, and a gust of level 9 is now reported in the Gulf of Tonkin.

From tonight onwards, the wind will weaken and the sea waves will be 2 - 4m high.

In the northern area of the northern parts of the East Sea, including the northern waters of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands, the sea waves are 3-5m high.

The waters off localities from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai also see strong northeasterly winds of level 6, sometimes level 7, and a gust of level 8, strong seas, waves of being 2 - 4m high.

Previously, from 6:00 p.m till 8:00 p.m on Sunday evening, Da Nang braced for moderate to heavy rain which partially flooded some major streets in the city centre.

Accordingly, the total rainfall measured in the above-mentioned 2 hours on Nguyen Dinh Tuu Street is 72mm, Hoa Cuong Nam Ward, Hai Chau District with 49.4mm and Thac Gian Lake with 67.8mm.

The Da Nang Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company and the Management Board of Da Nang Priority Infrastructure Investment Projects have assigned employees to open discharge gates for water to drain into the Han River and the sea, and operate anti-flood pumping stations at the end of Ong Ich Khiem, Thuan Phuoc streets to prevent flooding.
