Road closures and parking restrictions for VNG IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam triathlon 2022
The VNG Ironman 70.3 Vietnam triathlon will return to Da Nang on May 8 after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The prestigious sporting event will see the participation of more than 2,500 domestic and foreign athletes who will compete in 1.9km swimming, 90km cycling and 21.1km running.
To ensure traffic order and safety for the weekend race, a number of parking bans and road closures will be in place along seaside streets, and the Da Nang government is warning people to plan ahead for any journeys in these areas.
Specifically, from 5:00 am to 11:00 am on May 8, all vehicles will be banned from stopping and parking along the Truong Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap - Hoang Sa route, and streets of Nguyen Duc Thuan, Nguyen Khac Vien and Nguyen Tat Thanh. Also, traffic restrictions will be put in place along Nguyen Tat Thanh Street.
Alternative route from the city centre to Lien Chieu District and vice versa will be Le Duan - Dien Bien Phu - Hue T-junction- Ton Duc Thang.
During that period, a section of Vo Nguyen Giap between its intersection with Ho Xuan Huong and Nguyen Duc Thuan, and a section of Nguyen Duc Thuan Street between its intersection with Vo Nguyen Giap Street and Nguyen Khac Vien will be closed. Vehicles can travel on the Vo Nguyen Giap - Ho Xuan Huong - Le Van Hien - Tran Dai Nghia route and vice versa as an alternative.
In order to ensure traffic safety for the upcoming triathlon, traffic police force will be mobilised to the maximum. Traffic police will be arranged at checkpoints along and around the competition routes to rearrange traffic and prevent traffic jams during the competition.
The focus will be on proactively assigning police officers to conduct patrols around the venues where the sporting event will take place in a bid to prevent from robbery and the establishment of complicated security hotspots.
