Sugarcane juice, the liquid extracted from pressed sugarcane, in Hoa Bac Commune, Hoa Vang Distric, Da Nang is familiar to many people and tourists when coming to this mountainous commune. In the hot season, sugarcane juice here is the ideal choice of many consumers because of its low price and effective refreshment.  This sweet juice is made by crushing sugarcane stalks in a machine, either hand-cranked or electric. In Viet Nam, the most popular way to enjoy this tasty drink is with a splash of citrousy Kumquat juice and a dash of salt to bring out the flavour.

Ms. Ngo Thi Na, 42, living in An Dinh Village, Hoa Bac Commune, is scratching the bark of sugarcanes after harvesting them from her family's garden.

When there are customers, the new sellers start pressing sugar cane. To obtain a finished product of about 5 liters of water, the seller will squeeze from 6 to 7 long sugarcane plants.

Sugarcane juice is pure pressed, boasting a consistency, rich sweetness, and when served, it can be mixed with ice or hot water, making this perfect for hot summer day.

Price per glass of sugarcane juice is only VND5,000

A 1.5 litre bottle of sugarcane juice is priced at VND20,000. Many customers choose to buy because it's cheap and it is enough for all family members.

Mr. Nguyen Thien Phuc, 59, from Thanh Khe District has been a regular customer of Na’s shop for 3 years. Every time he has the opportunity to go to Hoa Bac, he buys some bottles of sugarcane juice for his family and as gifts for relatives.
