The Da Nang government is urging authorities at local level to work with relevant agencies to accelerate vaccine rollouts to reach all children aged 5 -11 years, and speed up the booster vaccination program for eligible people across the city in a bid to help protect against severe disease and death in line with the guildines from the national and municipal governments.

Local leaders are asked to take responsibility for getting more COVID-19 vaccines into arms in efforts to increase vaccination coverage and achieve COVID-19 vaccine goal set by the municipal administration.

Authorities at local level must ensure that 90% of the eligible people in their localities will get their booster jabs while all children between five and 11 can get vaccinated against COVID-19 in the second quarter of this year.

The focus must be on encouraging eligible adults and children to roll up their sleeves for COVID-19 shots or boosters.

According to data publised by the Da Nang Center for Disease Control and Prevention, as of June 1, 103,648 children and young people aged 12 to 17 years had received their first doses whille 100,053 others had got their second shots.

Till date, 87,544 out of 87,544 children aged 5 to 11 years old in Da Nang have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
