Since the implementation of the temporary collection of car parking fees along Bach Dang and Tran Phu streets, many drivers have actively paid parking fees according to the regulations. However, there were still a lot of drivers who deliberately delayed the payment of fees, leading to persistent fee debts.

Since March 10, 2022, the parking situation on the two streets has significantly improved. Through the statistics released by the functional bodies, the number of vehicles that still owed parking fees on these two routes from February 1, 2021 to March 24, 2022 is still high.

Facing the above-mentioned situation, the Inspector of the Department of Transport has reviewed and invited car owners who owe parking fees on Bach Dang and Tran Phu routes to fulfill the financial obligations.

Mr. Ho Tan Ngoc, a driver of Thuan Phat Tourist Service Company, said that allowing paid car parking on Bach Dang and Tran Phu streets has created favourable conditions for many drivers of tourist coaches when taking tourists to the Rong (Dragon) and Han River bridges, Dien Hai Citadel and Han Market for sightseeing and shopping. Currently, drivers do not have to travel around looking for parking as before.

According to the municipal Department of Transport, streets with parking fees are all posted with instruction boards, and its staff members also regularly give reminders and specific instructions to drivers.

From June 1 to June 19, 2022, the Inspector of the municipal Department of Transport has strengthened the inspections and the imposition of fines on illegal stopping and parking through the parking monitoring software system.

It is known that car parking charges are applied between 6.00am to 10.00pm every day.

Fire engines, ambulances and other specialised vehicles, all of which are on official duty in accordance with Vietnamese laws, are permitted to park free of charge.

In order to ensure traffic order and safety as well as urban beauty on these streets, Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Transport Bui Hong Trung said that his agency has requested the Inspectors, Motor Vehicle Registration Center to remind drivers who still owe parking fees to fulfill the obligation of paying charges for car parking acts on the 2 streets.

Many transport projects available for investment attraction

The Da Nang People's Committee has just issued a list of projects in Da Nang for investment attraction in the 2022 - 2026 period, with a vision towards 2030, and some of them are transport, infrastructure and logistics projects. Notable among them are the Bach Dang - Nguyen Van Troi Bridge - Tran Hung Dao pedestrian route, the logistics centres of Hi-Tech Park, Da Nang International Airport, Kim Lien Cargo Terminal, Lien Chieu Port and Hoa Phuoc, 2 berths at the Lien Chieu Port, car parks in the city centre,  ancillary areas for the Hoa Phuoc wholesale market, and automatic sorting centre and warehouse in Hoa Lien Commune, Hoa Vang.

Since the beginning of 2021, Da Nang has operated the collection of parking fees on Bach Dang and Tran Phu streets with the lowest price of VND15,000/ turn and the highest being VND40,000.
Initially, the city used Smart Parking app to collect tolls and assigned Hai Chau District People's Committee to manage. After a period of operation, this app did not meet the requirements, so the city switched to the My Parking app. Currently, this parking fee collection app is managed by the municipal Department of Transport.

The My Parking app is used to search for available parking spaces in Da Nang and to pay for your parking quickly and easily. It is the car park app released by Viet Nam's military-run telecommunications company Viettel to help drivers rent out their free parking spaces along Bach Dang and Tran Phu streets, and pay for their parking over the phone.

Available for both iOS and Android, the app is free to download from Google PlayStore and Apple Store. To use My Parking, download their app onto your Smartphone or register online at http://myparking.vn/.

The toll collection on Bach Dang and Tran Phu streets has just resumed from March 10, 2022 after the COVID-19 outbreak period from August 2021 according to the instructions of the Da Nang People's Committee.
