Son Tra Peninsula to turn more highly-inviting with many new trees
Addressing a recent meeting, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Tran Phuoc Son underlined a need to accelerate plans for planting trees on the Son Tra Peninsula in a bid to create a unique highlight for this highly popular site, and Da Nang as a whole, in tandem with effectively implementing the ‘Growing 1 billion trees in the 2021 - 2025 period’ project in the city.

Vice Chairman Son asked the municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to quickly develop a detailed plan for planting many types of trees along routes on the peninsula.
As proposed by the competent authorities, focus will be on alternately planting 2 main indigenous tree varieties on the peninsula, namely Lagerstroemia speciosa and Millettia nigrescens Gagnep trees, along with a large number of fruit trees such as milkweed, jackfruit and longan in order to create ecological diversity here and a source of food for animals in the future.
At the event, the Da Nang Forest Protection Department proposed trees to be deployed along 3 routes on the peninsula with a total length of 19.8km. In detail, 19.8km long Route 1 stretches from the Tien Sa Port to the top of ‘Ban Co’ (Chessboard Peak), 3.2km Route 2 from the radar station to a watch-tower and 7.1km long Route 3 from the Ho Xanh (Green Lake) area to Bai Bac tourist site.
Particularly, at the foot of the Ban Co peak, it is recommended to plant trees on an area of 0.1ha.
Soon-to-be-planted trees on the peninsula must reach a height of 2m, be able to grow and develop well, as well as withstand landslides and strong wind.
