Da Nang fosters bilateral cooperation with Attapeu in many spheres
A high-ranking delegation of Da Nang, led by municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, on Sunday, paid a working trip to Attapeu Province, Laos.

During his reception for the Da Nang delegation, Party Committee Secretary cum Governor of Attapeu Province Let Xaynhaphon affirmed the working visit paid by the Da Nang leaders aimed to mark the 60th anniversary of the Viet Nam-Laos diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962 - 2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Viet Nam - Laos Amity and Cooperation Treaty (July 18, 1977 - 2022).
The Lao host expressed his delight at the fruitful results from the bilateral cooperation programmes with Da Nang in many spheres over recent years, especially in high-quality human resource training, thereby contributing to promoting his province’s socio-economic development.
Secretary Let Xaynhaphon asked for support from the Da Nang government in granting more scholarships to Laotian students, sending teachers to teach Vietnamese language in Attapeu Province, accepting officials of the provincial Department of Foreign Affairs to exchange working experience in the fields of culture, tourism and agriculture, and encouraging Da Nang investors to learn about the province’s investment climate.

For his part, Secretary Quang expressed his happy at visiting Attapeu Province, and expressed his sympathy with Attapeu over its COVID-19-triggered difficulties.
The Da Nang Party chief affirmed that the Party, State and people of Viet Nam in general, and of Da Nang in particular, always paid special attention to nurturing the bilateral traditional friendship and special solidarity between Da Nang and Attapeu, and Viet Nam and Laos as a whole.
Mr. Quang reviewed some of the city’s outstanding results in recent years. In particular, the city has till date attracted about 740 FDI projects from 45 countries around the world, with a total investment capital of US$3.52 billion.
In the first six months of 2022, Da Nang’s socio-economic situation prospered in many spheres. The city’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) is estimated to go up by 7.23% over the same period last year. Import and export activities continued to maintain growth momentum, whilst investment promotion and attraction activities recorded positive results.
At the recently-concluded Da Nang Investment Forum 2022, the city granted investment licences and investment policy decisions to 19 domestic and foreign direct investment (FDI) projects totalling US$508.8 million.
In terms of tourism, Da Nang successfully hosted a number of large-scale tourism events, including the Asian Routes Development Forum. Also, a number of air routes connecting Da Nang with such foreign countries as Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand, and Singapore, have been resumed.
The Vietnamese low-cost carrier, Vietjet Air, is planning to reopen 7 more routes from Da Nang to other countries.
According to the assessment of central ministries, Da Nang is one of the localities with a relatively fast economic recovery. The size of the city's economy in the past 6 months at current prices is estimated at more than VND57,792 billion, expanding by more than VND 5,077 billion over the same period in 2021. The city ranked 2nd in terms of scale and growth rate of GRDP among the total 5 provinces and cities in the Central Key Economic Zone
Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang highly appreciated the direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Attapeu Provincial Government Committee and the close coordination of the provincial departments, agencies and sectors in the implementation of programs and projects in the current period. past time.
Mr. Quang expressed his delight at fruitful results from some cooperation programmes between Da Nang and Attapeu Province during the 2018-2022 period. He pledged to continue his efforts to boost the bilateral cooperation relations with the province in the coming time.
The Da Nang leader took the opportunity to invite his counterpart to visit Da Nang as soon as possible.

Under the deal, the two sides will maintain regular exchanges of delegations at all levels in order to further strengthen the solidarity, special friendship and inherent cooperation between the two localities.
Additionally, the importance will be attached to granting more scholarships to the province’s students, teaching Vietnamese language in the province, and enhancing investment promotion activities over the next five years.
Also, the Departments of Industry and Trade of Da Nang and Attapeu Province also inked a cooperation programme.
As part of their ongoing working trip to Attapeu Province, the city's leaders offered incense and laid a wreath carried the words ‘High-Ranking Delegation Of Da Nang, Viet Nam, Pays Respect’ at the Laos-Viet Nam Combat Alliance Monument in Attapeu Province.
Also on the same day, the Da Nang delegation paid a visit to the Vietnamese People’s Association and the Attapeu Friendship Junior High School.
Secretary Quang asked the school's principal board to continue to effectively upgrade teaching and learning facilities in order to serve well the teaching of Vietnamese to Lao students.
Municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh highly appreciated the Vietnamese People’s Association in Attapeu for their great achievements over recent years.
He wished that the association would continue to promote the spirit, responsibility and orientation of Vietnamese expatriates in well abiding by local laws, and strengthening exchanges and friendship between the two localities.
When visiting the Vietnamese Language Training Centre in Attapeu Province, Vice Chairman Minh highly appreciated the centre's operation results over the past time, and hoped the centre would continue to uphold its achievements in the time to come.
Within the framework of working in the Laotian province, the Da Nang delegation presented 30 tablets to the offices of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Government Committee and some provincial departments and branches.
Also, they donated VND500 million to the province for implementing its social welfare activities, as well as gave 3 laptops and 10 tablets to the Attapeu Friendship Junior High School and 2 laptops and 10 tablets to the Vietnamese Language Training Centre.
