Fines to be imposed for failure to sort garbage from August 25
Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh has signed a new decree on sanctioning administrative violations in the field of environment to replace the Government-issued Decree No. 155/2016/ND -CP dated on November 18, 2016 on sanctioning of administrative violations in the field of environmental protection and Decree No. 55/2021/ND-CP dated May 24, 2021.
Under the freshly signed decree which will come into force from August 25, 2022, individuals and families who do not sort out their domestic waste and do not use packages to contain domestic solid waste as prescribed will be fined between VND500,00 and VND1 million.
Agencies, organisations and owners of production, business and service establishments that generate ordinary industrial solid waste shall be imposed a fine of between VND 3-5 million each for the act of failing to have minutes on the handover of ordinary industrial solid waste to be treated for each transfer according to regulations. Meanwhile, a fine of between VND 20-25 million will be levied on those who fail to classify ordinary industrial solid waste at the source as prescribed, or those whose industrial solid waste storage equipment and tools do not meet technical requirements for environmental protection.
According to Decree No. 45/2022/ND-CP, the maximum fines of VND1 billion and VND2 billion will be imposed for individuals and organisations respectively for violations in the field of environmental protection.
The statute of limitations for sanctioning administrative violations in the field of environmental protection is 2 years.
