The Institute of Social Sciences in the Central Region under the Viet Nam Academy of Social Sciences, in collaboration with France- based EM Normandie Business School, on Thursday organised an international scientific conference on business, innovation and sustainable development of the region.

The workshop consisted of several sessions on such topics as sustainable agriculture; human capital, overall productivity and sustainable development; innovation and sustainable development; entrepreneurship and transportation.

With a presentation on seaport system in service for logistics development in the central key economic region", Ph.D Phan Thi Song Thuong, the Director of the Centre for Political - Social Research of the Institute of Social Sciences in the Central Region, analysed the current status of the seaport system in the central key economic region on two aspects: infrastructure and cargo throughput capacity.

The analysis results show that the seaport system of the region still has limitations, especially traffic connection and infrastructure behind the seaport. In addition, the local localities in the region are still competing in attracting investment and developing seaports, while the commodity market of the region is still small and scattered.

In the presentation on ‘Sustainability and social entrepreneurship: limitations of social enterprises and ways to allocate resources", speaker Tran Thien Tra from France-based University of Stasbourg conveyed the information on the difficulties faced by social and traditional enterprises, thereby proposing a roadmap for policymakers on how to optimally allocate resources for sustainable business development.
