Viet Nam’s National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting said that an intertropical convergence zone is expected to appear in the middle of the East Sea on Friday.

As a result, a low pressure area is likely to form over the East Sea from Saturday into Monday, July 11, bringing the threat of strong showers and thunderstorms to the offshore area stretching from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau, including Da Nang, the middle and south of the East Sea (including the waters of the Truong Sa Islands), national weather forecasters have warned.

The Da Nang Steering Committee for Disaster Response and Search and Rescue is urging authorities at local level and relevant units to take mitigation measures in response to severe weather conditions.

The Da Nang Border Guard Command is asked to work with Da Nang Coastal Information Station to keep a close watch on disturbance developmen in the East Sea in order to keep owners of vessels operating at sea timely informed about severe weather conditions to help them take the initiative to avoid dangerous areas or seek safe shelters during the bad weather.

Special attention must be given to making the resources available in order to organize timely rescue of any person in distress at sea and provide timely support for those who need it during severe weather.

On Friday, the offshore area stretching from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau, including Da Nang, along with South of the East Sea (including the waters of the Truong Sa Islands), will see gradually increasing the southwest wind at levels 5- 6, and the gusts reaching levels 7 to 8, and experience rough seas with waves as high as 2m to 3m.

Today, scattered showers and thuderstorms are predicted over the parts from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue during the late afternoon and night hours with heavy rainfall likely in some places. Maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to hover around 31-34 degrees Celsius, even above 34 degrees Celsius at isolated localtions while minimum temperature will be in the range of 24-27 degrees Celsius.

Sunshine is forecast on Friday for the parts from Da Nang to Binh Thuan with the chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms during late afternoon and night hours while heavy rainfall is possible in isolated places. Temperatures in these areas can expect lows of 24 to 27 degrees Celsius and highs of 32 to 35 degrees Celsius.
