Sweltering temperatures expected to continue into Wednesday for Central Viet Nam
Northern Viet Nam and the parts from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen, including Da Nang, are under heat advisory as the scorching temperatures are currently baking these areas, according to Viet Nam’s National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.
These areas will sizzle on Monday as the mercury may rise above 39 degrees Celsius at isolated locations, with 35 to 38 degrees Celsius expected across Northern and Central Viet Nam. Temperatures are expected to exceed 35 degrees Celsius between 11:00am and 5:00pm. Lowest humidity is likely to record at 45-65 per cent.
Temperatures are forecast to stay high in Central Viet Nam into Wednesday, July 20 while the northern region will experience milder conditions in coming days.
The combined effects of hot and low humidity conditions along with high winds blowing from the southwest pose an increased fire or explosion risk in residential areas in Central Viet Nam. In addition, the extreme heat, coupled with drought conditions across much of Central Viet Nam, help fuel wildfires in the region.
Persistent soaring temperatures can lead to illnesses such as dehydration and even heatstroke. Health experts said residents in the warning region should try to stay cool and drink plenty of water.
On Monday, severe heatwave condition is likely to prevail over the parts from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue while showers and thunderstorms are predicted at isolated places during the late afternoon and night hours. Maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to hover around 33-36 degrees Celsius, even above 36 degrees Celsius in some places while minimum temperature will be in the range of 25-28 degrees Celsius.
Sunshine is forecast today for the parts from Da Nang to Binh Thuan with the chance of showers and thunderstorms during late afternoon and night hours at isolated places. Temperatures in these areas can expect lows of 25 to 28 degrees Celsius and highs of 33 to 36 degrees Celsius, even above 36 degrees Celsius in some places.
Today, the best chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms in most parts of Central Highlands during late afternoon and evening hours while a few places in the region will see heavy rainfall. Maximum and minimum temperatures will hover around 28-31 degrees Celsius, even above 31 degrees Celsius at isolated locations, and 21-24 degrees Celsius, respectively.
