After completing the construction of the Waste Transfer Station on Le Thanh Nghi Street in Hai Chau District, the Da Nang Management Board for Infrastructure Construction and Urban Development Investment Projects called for such a facility currently under construction in Son Tra District’s Nai Hien Dong Ward to be urgently completed. In addition, heed should be paid to continuing to set up similar facilities in Cam Le, Ngu Hanh Son and other districts across the city in efforts to make contribution to environmental aesthetics and beautiful landscapes.

Less than 8 months after work started on the Waste Transfer Station Project in Son Tra District, rough construction work has already completed while the installation of equipment is being carried out urgently by the SEEN Engineering Joint Stock Company and Sai Gon Transportation Mechanical Corporation - One Member Co., Ltd (SAMCO)

Covering an area of 4,002 square metres, the Son Tra District- based Waste Transfer Station is expected to handle 200 tons of waste per day. The facility features a waste compaction block, a bulky waste processing block, two closed pressing systems for waste handling, one automated waste vehicle washing system, one 30- ton waste weighing scale, one bulky waste crushing system, one deodorizing system, one wastewater treatment system, four hooklift garbage container truck, nine large waste containers, internal roads, fences, water supply and drainage system, and more.

Mr. Dang Que Hung, a representive from construction units said that the Son Tra District- based Waste Transfer Station is the second facility to be built in Da Nang by SEEN and SAMCO so it will definitely be very neat, contributing to optimising the city's waste collection and treatment whilst preserving people's quality of life. Construction units are in a hurry to complete the whole project.

Meanwhile, the similar facility project on Nguyen Duc Trung Street in Thanh Khe District has been included in the list of the city’s key projects to drive local socio-economic development following the municipal government’s decision No. 776 dated March 23, 2022.

Mr To Van Hung, the Director of the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment said that modern waste transfer stations are an indispensable part in the city's domestic waste collection and treatment processes. The Da Nang Management Board for Infrastructure Construction and Urban Development Investment Projects has submited its proposal for trial operation of the waste transfer station on Le Thanh Nghi Street for one year in accordance with the approved environmental protection plan to the municipal Department of Construction for approval.

Furthermore, the Da Nang Administration has allocated capital to such projects as a transfer station combined with garbage classification in Cam Le District’s Hoa Phat Ward, and upgrades of existing waste transfer stations in a bid to ensure environmental sanitation and urban beauty.

The municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment is urging the Da Nang Management Board for Infrastructure Construction and Urban Development Investment Projects to create investment plans for waste collection points for recyclable materials to be set up at 43 vacant lots across the city in line with the municipal government’s direction.
