Helping poor pupils pursue their academic dreams
Ahead for the new academic year, the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committess at all levels actively call on organisations and individuals to provide scholarships, learning tools and more for children from poor and disadvantaged households in a bid to help them follow their academic aspirations despite economic hardships.

On the occassion of the 2022/23 academic year, Cam Le District’s Hoa Tho Tay Ward Chapter of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee granted 12 scholarships valued at VND 1 million each to poor pupils .
Mrs Tran Thi Bich Lien Hoa, the Chairwoman of the Tho Tay Ward Chapter of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee highlighted the significance of the annual scholarship program at the start of the the new academic year in reducing the financial burden for disadvantaged pupils as well as encouraging them to overcome difficulties to excel in their studies.
In response to an appeal for financial aid made by the Hai Chau District Chapter of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee to reduce dropout rates among disadvantaged students, 13 wards across the district have actively raised funding from benefactors to support disadvantaged students when entering the new school year.
Mrs Tran Thi Cuc Huong, the Vice Chairwoman of the Hai Chau District Chapter of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee said that scholarships worth nearly VND 800 million were granted to 973 poor studious pupils across the district on the occasion of the 2022/23 academic year.
Apart from granting scholarships to poor pupils on the occassion of the 2022/23 academic year, all wards across Hai Chau District also opened charity stores that allowed poor pupils to choose and buy school books and textbooks along with learning tools on store shelves for zero dong in an attempt to help them pursue their academic dreams. Most recently, Thanh Binh Ward has launched a programme to give poor pupils strength to follow their academic aspirations through awarding scholarships valued at VND 5 million each to 18 students from poor households. In addition, scholarships worth VND 500,000 have been given to 108 primary, junior and senior high school pupils from poor families. These grants were funded by the Ward Fund For the Poor.
Mr Duong Dinh Lieu, the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee underlined the need for timely support given to poor pupils to enable them to attend school as the tradition of studiousness of Vietnamese people would help encourage them to excel in their studies despite economic hardships.
Therefore, the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee has developed and maintained the annual scholarship program to support children from poor households as part of the city’s social welfare policy.
Since the 2019-2021 accademic year, the Committee has awarded scholarships totalling VND 7,444 billion to 7,243 poor students.
Mr Lieu highlighted the importance of the scholarship program in helping poor pupils’ education in order to enable them to firmly step into life, become a good citizen, and become a pillar of their family to ensure sustaining escapes from poverty.
