On Friday evening, the Quang Nam Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue requested the Song Bung, A Vuong and Dak Mi Hydropower Companies to gradually lower the water level of the Song Bung 2, Song Bung 4, A Vuong and Dak Mi 4 hydroelectric reservoirs to the lowest flood water level.

Accordingly, from 5:00 am on October 8 to 5:00 pm on October 10, the Song Bung 2 hydropower plant discharges water through generators and overflow spillways to downstream of the Song Bung 4 hydropower reservoir with a total flow discharge volume of 50-100m3/s larger than the water flow to the reservoir. Meanwhile, the Song Bung 4 hydropower plant discharges water through generators and overflow spillways to the downstream of the Vu Gia river, which is 50-150m3/s larger than the water flow to the reservoir.

The A Vuong hydropower plant discharges water through generators and overflow spillways to the downstream of the Vu Gia river, which is 200-300m3/s larger than the water flow to the reservoir.

The Dak Mi 4 hydropower plant discharges water through generators to the Thu Bon River and discharges water through overflow spillways to the downstream of the Vu Gia River with a total discharge volume greater than that of the reservoir by 150-200m3/s.

The Quang Nam Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue requires the companies to ensure that they do not cause sudden and abnormal flows that directly threaten the lives and properties of people in riverside areas downstream of the reservoirs. The companies are asked to inform residents living in the downstream areas about the operation and regulation of reservoirs.
