5Rs practices, zero-waste lifestyle, being encouraged in Da Nang schools
Experience in waste management in schools was put in the spotlight at a recent workshop in Da Nang which has been co-organised by the Da Nang Union of Science and Technology Associations and the Centre for Adaptive Capacity Building (CAB).
During the workshop, the participants have shared the results of waste management at 5 primary schools in Ngu Hanh Son and Cam Le districts, 2 senior high schools in Ngu Hanh Son and Son Tra districts, and 1 preschool in Lien Chieu District.
Also, they have shared experience in the implementation of waste management programmes, models and projects in schools. Included are the sustainable use of water use and the zero-waste school model at the Hoa Phu Primary School in Hoa Vang District, the model of green schools saying no to plastic waste at 3 primary schools in Cam Le District, and the plastic-free schools at 6 secondary schools and primary schools in Thanh Khe District.
Vice Chairman of the municipal Union of Science and Technology Associations Nguyen Dinh Phuc suggested localities, relevant units and organisations continue to implement models of waste management in schools in a bid to build waste-free schools, thereby contributing to promoting a zero-waste lifestyle through the implementation of the ‘5 R’ communication campaign (Refuse, Reduce, Re-use, Recycle and Rot).
