On Friday morning, the Da Nang administration organised a drill to respond to nuclear and radiation accidents.

As reported, the simulation was the detection of natural radioactive sources on a ground filling area 10 meters away from a residential area.

Director of the Department of Science and Technology Le Duc Vien said that the drill aimed to check the suitability of the incident response plan and evaluate the coordination and problem response capabilities of the units, particularly the coordination with military units regarding the removal of radioactive sources.

It is known that Da Nang is applying radiation sources widely in industries. Besides the benefits, radioactive emission risks are high. Therefore, such a regular response drill is necessary, raising public awareness and improving capacity to prevent and reduce the risks.

The rehearsal was in accordance with the procedure and the forces tried very hard to complete the tasks.
