The East Sea is being tracked for possible formation into a tropical depression or even a storm from tropical disturbances over the next several days, according to Viet Nam’s National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting ((NCHMF).

National forecasters indicate that a disturbance is expect to make its way into the East Sea from October 11 to 17 and the tropical wave could develop into a tropical depression or even a storm thereafter.

The national weather service predicts cold weather over Northern Viet Nam and rain accompanied by thunder or lightning over the most parts of Central Viet Nam, Central Highlands and Southern Viet Nam with heavy rainfall possible at localised locations from October 8 into October  17.

On Saturday, scattered showers and thunderstorms are in forecast for most parts of Central Viet Nam while few places could receive heavy downpours.

Moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms at most places with very heavy rainfall at isolated places are likely over the parts from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, from October 9 to 11.

From Sunday night into Monday, October 10, cold weather is forecast to spread across North Central Coast.

From October 12 to 14, moderate to heavy rainfall will be likely at most places across the parts from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa, including Da Nang while very heavy downpours accompanied by thunderstorms are expected at isolated places. Best chance for rains is likely in the parts from Da Nang to Khanh Hoa from October 13 to 14 with moderate to heavy rainfall in some places.

A warning for showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours with localised heavy rain is issued for Central Highlands and Southern region from October 8 to 12.
