Nesat downgraded to a remnant low, bringing heavy rainfall to parts from Quang Binh to Quang Nam, including Da Nang

Viet Nam’s National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF) issued the final advisory for Nesat on Thursday afternoon.

Storm Nesat was downgraded back to a tropical depression on Wednesday morning, and it was just a remnant low-pressure system on Thursday afternoon over the open waters off the Quang Binh – Thua Thien- Hue Coast, according to the national weather service.

NCHMF is warning people in the parts from Quang Binh to Quang Nam, including Da Nang, to brace for more heavy rain under the influence of Nesat’s remnants from Friday into Saturday, October 22.

The national weather service issues warnings for rain, thunderstorms with localised heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, strong winds for North Central Coast and the Mid-central region.

As per NCHMF, showers and thunderstorm chance with isolated heavy falls are very likely over North Central Coast and the Mid-central region till Saturday. National forecasters has warned of moderate to heavy rain with isolated heavy and very heavy rainfall over the parts from Quang Binh to Quang Nam, including Da Nang, from Friday afternoon through Saturday, October 22. NCHMF indicates heavy rainfall of 70 mm to 120mm, and even in excess of 200mm at isolated places.

Forecasters have also issued warnings of flash floods and landslides for mountainous areas, and localized flooding alerts are in place in low-lying and riverside areas. There are weather warnings for strong gusty winds and tornadoes, lightning during a thunderstorm for these areas.
