The Yen River peaked at 5.9m in flood from 4:00 am - 9:00 am today following recent days of rainfall, and is expected to keep the flooding peak until noon on the same day and then recede very slowly.

Due to being soaked for nearly a day, the flood began to overflow through many inter-village and inter-commune roads, causing flooding in many low-lying areas in Hoa Tien, Hoa Chau and Hoa Khuong communes in Hoa Vang District.

Currently, water levels of the Vu Gia River at the Ai Nghia Hydrological Station in Dai Loc District, Quang Nam Province is controlled close to the flood alert at level 3 thanks to the continued water discharge by the A Vuong and Song Bung 4  hydropower plants in combination with the operation of the Dak Mi 4 hydroelectric power plant to reduce floods for the downstream in the direction of inter-lake coordination.

According to the Quang Nam Provincial Hydro-meteorological Station, the flood water level on the Vu Gia River reached its peak and is currently receding slowly. This poses a very high risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas, and deep and wide flooding in riverside areas. Also, urban traffic networks in low-lying coastal areas face increasing risks of flood disruptions,  thereby affecting local residents’ production activities and daily lives.

According to the Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, today, October 11, Da Nang is bracing for another possible spell of moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms in some of its parts.

The total rainfall amount is predicted to be 40-60mm in Hoa Vang and Cam Le districts,  and 30-50mm, even more than 60mm, in Lien Chieu, Thanh Khe and Hai Chau districts.
