Floral and lighting decorations for Tet 2023 underway
Currently, relevant units are making floral and lighting decorations for the Lunar New Year of the Cat 2023, promising to create the joyful and boisterous atmosphere for both locals and tourists during the upcoming Tet Festival.

Convergence and development
Since January 2, the Da Nang Management Board of Industrial and Civil Engineering Construction and Investment Projects has directed construction units to build flower beds and install floral models along the sidewalk of Bach Dang Street in front of the T-shaped bridge.
Specifically, a flower garden themed ‘Convergence Spring’ will be constructed along the 100m-long sidewalk. The main flower bed will feature five cat mascots with the ‘Spring Quy Mao 2023’ words placed above the mascots, and more than 1,100 pots of raspberry chrysanthemums, blue hydrangeas, poinsettias, begonias and hasfarm daisies, expressing the idea of a happy cat family in the spring.
Also, there will be smaller flower beds and miniatures, representing the images of spring rhythms, a lucky cat family, cats playing with the moon and cats welcoming in the Lunar New Year.
The two welcome gates will showcase images of cameras and smartphones, conveying a message of spring with 4.0 technology associated with the Da Nang tourism icon. There will be stylized word 2023 and symbols of cat mascots.
Starting from January 5, the floral street decoration entitled ‘Reunion Spring’ have been underway on the sidewalks in the northwest and southwest of the Dragon Bridge in Hai Chau District.
In particular, the floral displays will feature images of lion dance performances, miniatures of cat mascots, stylized symbol of the cat family wearing traditional costumes towards the reunion of Tet, the typical mountains of Da Nang signifying the aspiration to develop, the sails reaching out to the great sea and the waves of flowers symbolizing the direction to 2023 with many transformations.
Also, construction units are building flower beds, installing models and decorating flowers along the sidewalk northeast of the Dragon Bridge in Son Tra District with miniatures showing the brilliant images of spring.
On January 9, floral displays will be made in front of the city's Administrative Center and on Thanh Dien Hai Street with the theme of high aspirations and spring beauty.
Additionally, sidewalks in front of 32 and 72 Bach Dang Street, and 12 and 23 Tran Phu Streets will be decorated with a wide range of Tet flowers.
According to Deputy Director of the Construction Technical Consultancy Center under the municipal Department of Construction Nguyen Xuan Tai, the floral display plan has the theme of ‘Convergence and development’ with stylized images of 2023 numerals with the flexible appearance of the cat mascot that are made with mecca boxes combined with led lights. aiming to create night effects and change colors according to each flower location.

Open to public from Jan. 19
In addition to the abovementioned nine floral decoration places, there are 3 other places: concrete rigs along Bach Dang Street, the APEC Sculpture Park and the East Sea Park.
Starting from January 10, roadside floral domes and floral frames mounted on light poles will be installed on September 2, Thanh Dien Hai, Xo Viet Nghe Tinh, Tran Phu, Vo Nguyen Giap and along the overpass of traffic infrastructure at western end of Tran Thi Ly Bridge.
General Director of the Public Lighting JSC Nguyen Dinh Hung remarked that his company is making every effort to complete the lighting decorations as soon as possible.
During Tet, the company will focus on inspecting, repairing and operating the entire public lighting and decoration electrical system in the city so as to serve Tet celebrations in the city.
Most notably, like the Tran Thi Ly Bridge, the Nguyen Van Troi Bridge will be decorated with led string lights and artistic reflectors with light colors selected to ensure the harmony of the common light for the two bridges.
It is known that a total of more than VND17.38 billion is spent on floral displays and lighting decorations for the upcoming Tet Festival 2023. Of this figure, VND14.58 billion is funded by the city budget, and the remaining VND2.8 billion comes from socialization capital.
Deputy Director of the Da Nang Management Board of Industrial and Civil Engineering Construction and Investment Projects Nguyen Hong Thanh said that the floral displays and lighting decorations will be completed before Tet, and the spring flower streets will be open to the public from January 19 (the 28th day of the 12th lunar month).
