According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung, the Head of the Self-Managed Workers’ Group No. 1, Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District, the installation of free wifi hotspots at rental properties for industrial workers has a great important meaning as it shows great efforts of the municipal government to provide good material and spiritual care for them. This meaningful activity has facilitated workers’ access to the guidelines, policies and laws of the Party and national government.
Mrs Vu Thi Nhu, the leader of the self-managed workers' group No. 2, Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District, highlighted the need for the city to expand the installation of free wifi hotspots at rental properties for industrial workers citywide. Heed must be paid to conducting regular inspections at the existing free wifi hotspots after a storm in order to ensure that these hotspots are in good working conditions.
Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang Confederation of Labour Dinh Thi Thanh Ha, highlighted great efforts the organization has made to give advice to the municipal administration to provide free wifi coverage for workers' accommodation, and this policy has been implemented across the city for many years. This policy is in line with the city’s goal of improving the material and spiritual life for trade union members and employees as well as boosting digital transformation in the city in an attempt to develop a digital society to bring more benefits to local citizens. The installation of free wifi hotspots helps immigrant workers access information easily, meet their entertainment needs, and facilitate their contacts with their family members in their hometowns.
“In 2020, and 2021, this installation work has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the work has been resumed citywide after the COVID-19 pandemic in the city had been brought under control. We worked with the Municipal Department of Information and Communications to conduct surveys of installing locations that have a high concentration of rental properties for workers. Till date, the installation of free wifi hotspots has been completed at 18 locations across Cam Le, Lien Chieu and Son Tra districts that have highest number of immigrant workers working for companies located in industrial parks,” said Mrs. Ha.
By late 2023, the focus will be on installing free wifi hotspots at the remaining 20 rental properties for workers areas and locations where the self-managed workers' groups are living in order to realize the city’s goal of providing full free wifi coverage at rental properties for workers
