No road traffic accidents recorded in Da Nang during Tet

No road traffic accidents, illegal street racing, and assaults on law enforcement officers were reported in Da Nang from January 19 - 25 (the 28th day of the 12th lunar month to the 4th day of the 1st lunar month), according to the Traffic Police Division of the municipal Police Department.

Traffic police in the city strictly and effectively implemented the instructions of the Ministry of Public Security, the Department of Traffic Police and the Da Nang Department of Public Security on launching campaigns for run-over attacks and crime suppression, aiming to ensure traffic safety and order over the Tet holiday.

Local traffic police officers paid special attention to raising public awareness about strictly obeying the national traffic regulations over the Tet Festival, and conducting mobile patrols along the city’s major streets.

The focus was on handling traffic violations such as driving exceeding the speed limit, travelling in wrong lanes, reckless overtaking, carelessly ignoring traffic lights, running in the opposite direction, and drinking alcohol and beer and using drug while driving.

Traffic police force was arranged at key intersections, locations for cultural and entertainment events, and spring festivals to effectively implement traffic management to ease traffic congestion.

From January 19 - 25, the city's traffic police force arranged 336 working groups with 1,160 turns of traffic police to patrol local streets.

As a result, local traffic police detected and made 636 records of administrative violation to those failed the city’s traffic rules with 121 cars and 512 motorcycles involved.

A combined total of VND562 million in fines, which was imposed on 436 violation cases, went to the city's branch of the Viet Nam State Treasury. Six cars and 66 motorbikes were temporarily seized, whilst 59 car drivers had their driving licences revoked.

Compared to the same period in 2022, the number of traffic violation cases rose by 438, and the amount of fines by VND329 million.

Besides, there were 58 alcohol-related traffic violations, 129 cases failing to wear helmets, and 57 cases carrying more than the specified number of passengers. These figures showed a decrease of 58 in alcohol-related violations, and an increase of 57 and 47 in violations relating to not wearing helmets and carrying more than the specified number of passengers respectively in comparison with the same period in 2022.

Furthermore, local traffic police took various measures to ensure traffic order and safety, and prevent illegal racing on the Hai Van Pass, forcing more than 300 cases of teenagers driving up the pass to turn back, handling more than 20 cases of violations, and temporarily seizing 5 motorbikes.
