Da Nang health workers honoured with 'Shining White Coat' award

A total of 39 medical workers in Da Nang have been honoured with ‘Shining White Coat 2021 and 2022’ awards in recognition of their outstanding efforts for Da Nang’s health care sector, as well as their great devotion to patients, over the past two years.

This year’s awards ceremony took place on Monday afternoon, in recognition of the 68th anniversary of Vietnamese Physicians’ Day (27 February).

Over the past time, with support of the all-level Da Nang authorities, the local medical sector has achieved many important achievements, notable among which were the effective control of COVID-19, health assurance and disease prevention at major political, cultural, economic and sports events and the good performance of the first aid work in disaster prevention.

In addition to the development of the preventive medicine system, the quality of medical examination and treatment at hospitals increasingly improved in the direction of wide general practice, deep specialisation and regional integration.

Hospitals carried out many new and modern techniques to enhance the quality of medical examination and treatment and continued implementing the ‘Renewing service style and attitude of medical staff towards patient satisfaction enhancement’ nation-wide movement.

In 2023, the Da Nang health sector will focus on effectively implementing the plan of ensuring safe adaptation, flexibility and effective control of COVID-19 in the city, continuously improve the quality of medical examination, treatment and rehabilitation activities at all levels, developing specialised medical technology in the direction of wide general practice, deep specialisation and regional integration in order to facilitate the public to access modern and high-tech medical services.

Other tasks include the insurance of adequate and timely supply of drugs for medical examination and treatment establishments, the promotion of selling prescription drugs at pharmacies and the selection of eligible contractors to supply drugs to the affiliated medical examination and treatment facilities in accordance with the national regulations.

Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh, on behalf of the city leaders, praised the tireless efforts and strong dedication made by the health sector over the past time.

With their high sense of responsibilities, the city's leaders will continue to give more support to the local medical sector, with priority to upgrading the existing medical facilities, creating a spacious, clean, modern and safe treatment environment for patients.

Chairman Chinh also asked relevant agencies to jointly remove difficulties facing the city's health sector as well as complete policies and legal corridors to protect doctors and nurses in the process of carrying out their glorious, noble yet tough duties,

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Prime Minister awarded a national government emulation flag to one unit and certificates of merit for 3 individuals in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the health care sector over the past time. 

First launched in 2012, the annual awards aim to honour outstanding doctors, nurses and medical staff from local public hospitals.
