Mr Duong Thanh Bình, the head of the National Assembly (NA) Commission on People's Aspiration led a supervisory delegation to pay a working visit to Da Nang on Wednesday. The intention was to check the mobilization, management and usage of the city’s resources for the prevention and control of COVID-19 as well as the city’s implementation of national policies and laws on grassroots healthcare facilities and preventive medicine.

Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh, municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Ngo Thi Kim Yen and representatives of relevant local agencies hosted the supervisory delegation.

Mr Duong Thanh Binh highlighted huge efforts Da Nang has made in the prevention and control of COVID-19 with the adoption of its pioneering and unprecedented policies but appropriate to the real situation. Da Nang has been very successful in maximize local available resources to curb transmission during the COVID-19 complex and stressful situation.

Mr Duong Thanh Binh also pointed out the difficulties faced by Da Nang in implementing its tasks due to significant entanglements of the regulations issued by ministries and national government agencies. In addition, the city was asked to continue to invest in facilities and human resources at all levels of the health care system in order to improve the quality of health care in local hospitals.

Mr Binh remarked that the city’s recommendations and suggestions related to healthcare policies will be presented and discussed at the upcoming National Assembly session in May.

According to Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh, the city has made great efforts to maximize local available resources, take many initiatives and adopt unprecedented measures in an attempt to strengthen the prevention and control of COVID-19 since 2020 in line with the direction from the national government.

The city has designed and implemented a plan to fit its specific situation with a focus on controlling the spread of COVID-19 and mitigating economic losses induced by the pandemic. Furthermore, the Da Nang government has spent most of its resources on the health care system at grassroots level in a bid to improve health care quality, especially improving the utilization of preventive care services.

The Da Nang government will continue its efforts to invest in the healthcare sector and use incentives to attract physician talent.
