Isolated showers and thunderstorms Thursday night
The rain is not quite done soaking the parts from from Da Nang to Binh Thuan, as isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected across the parts on Thursday night, Viet Nam’s National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has said.
These areas are likely to have mostly cloudy skies on Thursday. Gusty winds are possible in these areas. By the coastal areas they will see high winds at level 4, while farther inland you could find gradually increasing northeasterly wind at levels 2- 3. Especially, coastal areas of Ninh Thuan Province could see strong wind at level 6 and gustiness above level 6 in some places Temperatures in these areas can expect lows of 19 to 22 degrees Celsius, and even 22 degrees Celsius in isolated locations in southern part of the region, and highs of 27 to 30 degrees Celsius.
Wednesday night into Thursday daytime, a high wind warning is in effect for the southern part of the East Sea (including waters of western part of Truong Sa Islands) as these areas could see strong northeasterly winds at level 6, gustiness of levels 8 to 9 during night hours, and lower level winds expected during the daytime on Thursday, as well experience rough seas with waves as high as 2-3m.
Strong winds at level 5, sometimes at level 6, and the gusts reaching level 7, as well as rough seas with waves as high as 2-3m are in forecast for the Northeastern part of North East Sea and the open waters off the Binh Thuan – Ca Mau coast.
Viet Nam’s National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control is urging authorities in affected areas, to take proactive and necessary mitigation measures in response to strong winds at sea.
Focus must be paid to keeping a close watch on severe weather development, and keeping owners of vessels operating at sea timely informed about severe weather conditions in order to help them take the initiative to avoid dangerous areas or seek safe shelters during the bad weather. Special attention must be given to making the resources available in order to organize timely rescue of any person in distress at sea and provide timely support for those who need it during severe weather.
